Drew Nickell was back on the Radio on Thursday, 21 November 2019

I was back on the radio , sitting in on the Nora Firestone Show, on WKQA-AM Freedom 1110, where I discussed how one of the two major political parties wants to change the rules of how we elect a president, how the “deep state” has pervaded the inner-most circles of the Trump administration, and of course, impeachment…

This show also appeared as a “Facebook live” broadcast, and here is a link to the replay of that broadcast:

The Unintended Revelations in Trump’s Impeachment

The Unintended Revelations in Trump’s Impeachment

In the unending hours of testimony by government employees who support the efforts to impeach and remove President Donald Trump, who in closed, secret session must pass an “audition” before Adam Schiff will allow them to testify on television, there are revealed some sad and perilous truths that no one in the media, or on either side of the aisle, ever intended to reveal. Moreover, once this impeachment farce is finished, and the Senate ultimately acquits the President of wrongdoing, the implications of these revelations will remain, and therein lies the larger problem. For instance:

  • Given the many thousands of career personnel in the State (and other) Departments, it has become quite obvious that any incoming President is expressly at their mercy to carry out his policies.
  • Given the swelling ranks of federal employees across all departments, there is a permanent government establishment in all sectors who utilize the complexity of their own rules and regulations to stymie political opponents and enable political allies. Consider, for instance. the State Department during the Obama administration under Secretary Hillary Clinton versus the same State Department during the Trump administration under Mike Pompeo, following the “planted” Rex Tillerson, who attempted to thwart the President at every turn.
  • Undoubtedly, there is a globalist/internationalist mindset that has become so entrenched in the State Department, over several decades since the end of World War II, and one that has largely been supported by every President from both parties, since Franklin Roosevelt was president. While presidents come in with their own agendas, in the grand scheme of things, there has been little variation in much of what we call foreign policy, but then…
  • In marches President Trump on a new wave of nationalistic fervor- borne from long-held and simmering anti-establishment sentiments percolating in the heart of conservatives who have repeatedly been lied to and have grown weary of a double-standard which exonerates Hillary Clinton and James Comey, and yet destroys the lives of Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort and, most lately, Roger Stone. Trump’s voter base is fed up with the trillions of dollars and thousands of lives spent in policing the world from the “crazies” trying to effect jihadist revolution or totalitarian hegemony.  With nominal financial and military assistance from allies, too many of whom commit to supporting these efforts, but in specious and unreliable platitudes that promise much and deliver little, Trump’s voter base has grown weary of the tweed-jacketed and finely-suited “experts” who have a tendency to defer to international group-think. On that and other bases, Trump and his supporters are instinctively and reflexively against almost every established “norm” that has been set in stone by these globalists, who viewed his election as a threat to all they hold dear and understand to be the only way to secure the world in the way they deem fit, and without prioritizing our own national security in the process.
  • The way all three of these career apparatchiks so desperately tried to parlay their own misgivings about such radical change into aiding Democrats and other establishment Anti-Trump/NeverTrump politicos, all in an effort to remove him or sully his re-election, is revealed in the way each has testified for the committee. It’s as if they are saying, “How dare he?” Yet, despite this, none can say with any clarity exactly what “treason, bribery, high crime or misdemeanor” that the President himself has actually committed that would warrant impeachment and removal from office- other than the fact that he is pursuing policies not to their own liking.
  • All of which brings the larger, constitutional question that we never hear about and that is whether or not our government is truly run by three equal branches or is it really run by a permanent embedded class of federal employees, never elected to anything and whose real priority is protecting their tenure to ensure their pension. When a bureaucracy grows so bloated that it takes on the trappings of a permanent, shadow government entrenched in their own agendas, irrespective of the will of the people to effect change, the power of the vote becomes diminished to the point of irrelevancy. This is why the Democrats seek to “correct” the results of the 2016 election, and “correct” those who voted for Trump, by removing a duly-elected President or making sure he will not be re-elected, in the end.
  • Worse, the Democrats in the House are permanently damaging the office of the presidency by subjecting it forever more to the heavy-handed and overtly-partisan scrutiny of a legislature which has thus effectively emasculated the powers of the President. Further, any future President would have to serve at the imprimatur of the permanent ruling class of a federal establishment pursuing its own agenda- the will of the people be damned.
  • So, while the buffoonish machinations of Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, his fellow Democrats on the committee and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, designed to besmirch the President and make his re-election unthinkable to voters who get their news from CNN, MsNBC and the networks, the real damage that results will mean a less secure country for the rest of us- especially in times of peril… Why?… because a president who must gain the approval of a legislature for every single solitary course of action, in such times of national emergency, will be hampered in his ability to protect the country, through legislative delay, committee consent and the bureaucratic boggling that’s sure to follow.

In essence, we must ask ourselves who sets foreign policy? An elected President or the permanent federal bureaucracy empowered to pick and choose which candidate they will support and which candidate they will oppose? The United States Constitution has weighed in on this quite specifically, as expressed in Article 2, but it appears that the denizens of D.C. have their own ideas on the subject, and that is what threatens our nation more than anything else.

In their quest to “dump” Trump, are the Democrats in Congress prepared to destroy the presidency itself, and so further divide a country that they have polarized to the point of possible civil war?

Is getting rid of Trump worth all that? Really?

A Tale of Treachery Far Beyond the Pale

A Tale of Treachery Far Beyond the Pale

On the day before “open” public testimony begins, regarding Democrat attempts to impeach President Donald Trump, comes a tale of treachery far beyond the pale of anything close to acceptable behavior.

No, in this instance we are not talking about Obama or Clinton holdovers in the CIA, FBI or State Department, who have been beside themselves since Donald Trump had the unmitigated nerve to beat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. Nor are we talking about career apparatchiks, residing in the District of Columbia or in its suburbs of Virginia and Maryland, who have never voted for a Republican in their entire adult lives- much less a Republican who has the “cojones” to fight back in a way no Republican has since Teddy Roosevelt used the bully pulpit to fight against the corruption endemic to the Democrat Party of his own era.

Granted, there have been many instances in both of these regards, of deep state insiders who have colluded and conspired to sabotage Trump’s candidacy, and subsequently bring down the forty-fifth President or marginalize his presidency in an effort to prevent his re-election. Such people (and there are hundreds) checked their ethics and sense of propriety at the door many years ago, all in the service of globalist leaders, going back decades, who ensured their continued employment and all its perks at the expense of taxpayers.

No, what we are talking about here are individuals in whom the duly elected President of the United States entrusted to carry out his policies and support his initiatives to the very best of their abilities. Both former Chief of Staff John Kelly and former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson came highly recommended by members of both political parties and their respective nominations sailed through Senate oversight committees with relative ease. Yet, there was something sinister and treacherous in the ways these two individuals chose to carry out their responsibilities that are more reprehensible than anything Democrats in the House are doing in the conduct of their impeachment inquiry.

In her new book, With All Due Respect, former South Carolina Governor and Trump’s former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley tells of an instance where both Kelly and Tillerson approached her with a request to aid in their clandestine efforts to work around and thus subvert President Trump in the pursuit of his own foreign policy. Haley, who is not afraid to criticize President Trump, and has on several occasions, nevertheless rejected the entreaties proffered by Kelly and Tillerson, telling them that if they object to what the President is doing, they should take their concerns directly to the President himself.

“It was their decisions, and not the President’s, that were in the best interests of America, they said and the president didn’t know what he was doing,” wrote Haley.

Talk about arrogance in the pursuit of policy. Neither Tillerson nor Kelly were ever elected by anyone, and now we know fully well how and why their nominations faced minimal opposition from Democrats who almost jerk their knees to take down any Trump nomination.

In a word, they were “plants.”

Whatever honors that Mr. Tillerson and General Kelly accrued during the course of their respective careers in corporate America and in the United States Marines, have now been sullied in the muck of their own making.

To put it plainly, John Kelly and Rex Tillerson are pond scum, not worthy of respect by anyone with an ounce of ethical or moral decency, nor anyone who believes in the rule of law or the Constitution of the United States.

That President Donald J. Trump has been able to accomplish anything, in light of all of the many forces allayed against him during the last three years, is incredible in and of itself. The fact that he has accomplished so very much, in the face of almost universal opposition from the deep state of Washington insiders and their minions in the mainstream media, places him at the pantheon of Presidents who have put God and country, first.

Moreover, considering the degree to which President Donald Trump is hated by so many on both sides of the aisle- and even in his own White House, no less, tells me that his is an altruistic fight of good versus evil, calling to mind what Jesus faced with the Pharisees twenty-one centuries ago.

Over the millennia, the times may change but the hearts of men and women, for better or worse, seldom do, sorry to say. May God bless this President in his crusade against corruption, both here and abroad.

Trump’s “Impeachment” -a Step Back from the Insanity in the Pursuit of Clarity

Trump’s “Impeachment” -a Step Back from the Insanity in the Pursuit of Clarity

As the media fills the airwaves with the latest “bombshell” regarding the supposed “impeachment” of Donald Trump, it might behoove all of us to step back from the daily minutiae of wishful thinking on their part in pursuit of a greater clarity as to what is really going on.

Sure, the Democrats in the House of Representatives are traveling down “Impeachment Avenue,” to the fullest extent that they can. That said, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi(D-CA) realizes that in the autumn prior to an election year, impeaching a sitting president who seeks re-election amounts to nothing more than an attempt to cast mud on his prospects of being re-elected. The American public, more specifically the American electorate, values fairness in any fight- be it boxing, bashing or baseball, and recoils at the idea that a House Speaker (Pelosi) can achieve an actual Senate referral of impeachment without gathering substantial bi-partisan and overwhelming support for such a drastic undertaking.

In the two hundred and thirty odd years since George Washington took the oath of office, there have only been three such referrals, and the second of these three (Nixon) resulted in the president’s resignation prior to the Senate’s undertaking. In each of these three proceedings, substantial bi-partisan support for impeachment “legitimized” each referral. Based on last week’s House vote to codify the existing, one-sided investigation- a vote which lacked even a single Republican vote- Nancy is nowhere near taking an actual floor vote on an impeachment referral to a Senate held by a Republican majority. Despite his own wet dream that he is somehow still relevant, by favoring impeachment of his party’s president, there are simply not enough NeverTrump/Anti-Trump Republicans like Mitt Romney who are apt to join a unified Democrat caucus in a vote to convict Donald Trump in a Senate trial.

Nary a person in either house, save for the wild-eyed radicals of “the squad” (Ocasio-Cortez D-NY, Omar D-MN, Pressley D-MA and Tlaib D-MI), thinks that removing Trump prior to next fall’s election will happen. There’s not a national correspondent who can honestly predict Trump’s removal with a straight face, despite the fact that both Democrat legislators and the media with whom they collude to purport a lie to the American public, desperately would wish it to be so.

So, what is really going on here?

Sure, there are a lot of sour grapes on the political left that their candidate lost to the one man they hate so very much. Democrat hatred of the president is palpable to the point of irrationality, but this hatred has more to do with Trump’s personality than with his policies. While his predecessor Barack Obama was loquacious, uplifting and almost inspirational in communicating his lies to the American people, Donald Trump is brutally honest, and sometimes crude, in delivering to Americans the truth- despite claims to the contrary by a biased and slanted press. In an alternate universe where Trump would have run as a Democrat, all of these accusations of racism, sexism, misogyny, xenophobia and homophobia on his part, and on the part of his voters, would evaporate into thin air, as the forty-fifth president enjoyed all of their good graces prior to his June 2015 entry into the race, and back when he was writing checks to their campaigns.

Yet this is only a partial explanation.

The preponderant and unspoken truth about the state of national politics today is that a civil war is being thrust upon the American people by a Democrat party and a media intent on dividing the country to an extent not seen since the last civil war one hundred sixty years ago. This second civil war will not be based on geography and comparative economies as was the case in the 1860s, but rather on ideology as to the eternal question of the proper role of the state. Because the media has done a tragically-effective job in widening the philosophical breach, to the extent that the “middle” exists no more, domestic conflict aggravated to the point of no return is the price Democrats and the media are willing to pay in order to achieve a political revolution to transform the United States into a socialist, Soviet-style government.  If you think that the mention of a second civil war based on ideology is a trifle far-fetched, a recent survey found that a whopping 67 percent- that’s two out of three Americans- believe we are headed to towards a second civil war. The Democrats and their allies in the media know, all-too-well that such an endeavor to radically transform the country cannot win at the ballot box, so they seek to force it on us, instead, through subterfuge and deep-state sabotage of the current administration. In their attempts to bring down a duly elected president, by whatever means necessary, what they are really doing is attempting to overturn the results of the last election in hopes that the next election will overturn these results. Make Trump so distasteful and smeared with the scourge of impeachment, that the voting public will turn against him and elect any Democrat, instead.

Yet, therein lies the problem.

The bi-coastal embrace of all things anti-Trump is a stance not favored in America’s heartland. These people who ply their trades with hard work and devotion to the family have grown to mistrust politicians from both parties, because hard-working people don’t like to be lied to- by Democrats who seek to destroy the values they hold dear, and by Republicans who talk a good game of government reform and national renewal but, alas, fail to deliver on the same. Despite what the media and the Democrats would have us believe, Trump supporters are neither racist nor sexist nor misogynistic nor xenophobic nor homophobic. They just want to clean up a corrupt government and have thus entrusted their support to the one American who was rich enough and savvy enough and gutsy enough to take down a decades-old corrupt establishment and drain the swamp in which the deep state dwells. They go to church, stand for the national anthem, live by the code of self-sufficiency, respect both the language and the meaning of the Constitution and cherish the independence and freedom that is the basis of what it is to be an American…

…and this is something that the ivied walls of academia, the bustling newsrooms of the media, the hallowed halls of Congress, the deep-state Washington insiders who remain in place by virtue of tenure and the bloated bureaucracy that this creates will never, ever understand…and this is also the key to Trump’s inevitable  re-election.
