Drew Nickell was back on the Radio Thursday, January 31st
On Thursday, the 31st of January, I was sitting in for Nora on the Nora Firestone Show, on WKQA-AM Freedom 1110 in Hampton Roads. On the show, I discussed the resurgence of radical abortion legislation initiatives and the President’s upcoming State of the Union address by time traveling back to the Januarys of 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018, and revisiting four speeches that all lead up to this year’s State of the Union address, which I then previewed prior to the speech slated for Tuesday. February 5th.
This show will also appeared as a “Facebook live” broadcast, and here is the link to the replay of that broadcast:
There has
been much talk and further speculation on President Trump’s State of the Union
Address, slated for Tuesday evening, February 5th.
On the 3rd
of January, 2019, while in the midst of a partial government shutdown, House
Speaker Nancy Pelosi invited the President to address a joint session of
Congress on January 29th. Subsequently,
the Speaker requested that the address be cancelled or postponed until the
partial shutdown ended, out of concerns for security. This was a lie
perpetuated to force the president’s hand in unilaterally caving to Democrat
demands that the shutdown must end prior to any discussion on border security- discussions
that would exclude any funding for a wall on the U.S./Mexico border. When the
President agreed to the postponement, as opposed to a written submission that
came on the heels of this postponement request, the new date of February 5th
was agreed to when the president offered to temporarily re-open for three weeks
that portion of government that had been shut down, pending resolution to the
issue of border wall funding.
The real
reason that Democrats want to postpone/cancel the address is that they do not
want the President to attain access to a national audience, out of fears that
he would make a compelling case for border wall funding and other such
initiatives that he wishes to pursue during the biennial legislative session,
ending January 3rd, 2021. Democrats know all-too-well that giving
the President any legislative win, especially border wall funding given his
oft-stated promises to build a wall during his 2016 campaign, will effectively
result in his re-election in 2020- something that they cannot, must not abide.
Since a large swath of Democrats in both houses of Congress seek to impeach
President Trump, not allowing him any legislative victory is the “plan B” in curtailing
his presidency, irrespective of what is in the best interests of the country.
So, the
State of the Union address will proceed as rescheduled on February 5th.
Here is a prediction: once the President is formally introduced to the joint
session, and takes the podium, look for the Democrats to walk out of the
chamber, en masse, in a childish attempt to humiliate President Trump before a
nationwide audience. They will do this so that the post-address news cycle centers
around the Democrat walk-out, as opposed to the substance of the President’s
address. It is as though the story has already been written, which just goes to
confirm the undeniable collusion that
exists between the mainstream media and the Democrat Party, and further
perpetuates the proposition by President Trump’s opponents that his presidency
is somehow illegitimate and not worthy of the trappings of his office. Remember,
now, what the lessons of the last (count ‘em) three years has taught us- that
there is no depth to the extent that Democrats will descend, in order to
obstruct the presidency of Donald J. Trump, as they have time and time again proved
before, during and subsequent to his election as President and taking his
office.
Sad but true, the Democrats would prefer the complete and total collapse of this country, than to allow this President to successfully lead the nation to security and prosperity, recalling to mind what Golda Meir, Israeli Prime Minister (1969-1974), once said about those seeking the destruction of her own country:
“Peace will come when they love
their children more than they hate us.”
…and make no
mistake about it- hatred of Donald Trump, and those who voted for him and
continue to support his presidency, is that which is driving the Democrat Party,
and nothing more than that.
Drew Nickell was back on the Radio Thursday, January 24, 2019
On Thursday, January 24, from 1:00 to 2:00, EST, Drew Nickell was sitting in for Nora Firestone on the “Nora Firestone Show,” on WKQA-AM Freedom 1110, on your Hampton Roads (VA) dial. During this hour-long broadcast, he reviews the events of 2018, discusses the crisis at the U.S./Mexican Border, explains the eerie similarities of “Brexit” and “the Wall,” discusses the double standards when it comes to news coverage, and makes a prediction about the 2024 Presidential Election. This was also be shown as a Facebook Live broadcast. If you weren’t to tune in, here is the hyperlink to the live-streamed broadcast. We hope you enjoy the show.
If ever there
was a weekend when double standards on the part of the mainstream media were on
full display, the three-day weekend that was the third weekend of January 2019 proved
to be just that.
First, there
was the downright celebratory reaction by all sectors of the mainstream media
to the Buzzfeed report that there was documented evidence that President Donald
Trump instructed his former personal attorney Michael Cohen to lie to congress
when Cohen first appeared before congressional committees. Watching the reaction
of so-called journalists and political pundits, who were absolutely giddy with
the news that (finally) the nail in the President’s impeachment coffin was hammered
in and that it was only a matter of time for Trump to be impeached, was a
sickening albeit revealing confirmation that the once-heralded fourth estate of
a free press has effectually become the propaganda wing of the Democrat Party.
So egregious was the fabrication by already-discredited Buzzfeed reporters,
that a spokesman for Robert Mueller’s investigative team took the unprecedented
step of formally announcing that the bogus report was unsubstantiated and inaccurate
on its face. Yet, the mainstream media continued the “if this was true” cacophony
that impeachment was on the near horizon, nevertheless.
Then, there was
the reporting surrounding the President’s Saturday announcement of a compromise
offering to recalcitrant Democrats, to end the partial government shutdown by
temporarily extending protections for
hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants who were brought to the United
States as children, as well as those escaping disaster zones, for a period of
three years, in exchange for $5.9 billion in border security funding, part of which
includes border wall funding. While Democrat leadership panned the proposal
before it was even offered, major media outlets jumped on the “nothing new here”
bandwagon, predicting its failure in the Senate as a certainty, and echoing the
mantra that it is the President who is being unyielding and unreasonable.
Then there was the report that students from Covington (KY) Catholic High School, wearing “Make America Great Again” ballcaps wantonly disrespected Native Americans who were banging drums and chanting as “Indigenous Peoples” counter-protesters to the March for Life. Equating the young students wearing the ballcaps to “Nazi brown-shirts,” the mainstream media attempted to drive the narrative that it was the young Trump supporters who were inciting violence, all based on a snippet of video showing one of these students smiling in the face of a Native American drum-beater. The problem with this initial reporting was revealed when longer, more comprehensive videos showed quite the opposite. In fact, it was counter-protesters, including members of the Black Hebrew Israelites Movement and the Indigenous Peoples Marchers, who were hurling racial epithets and race-based insults at the white students. Also, it was the Native American drummers and chanters who got into the face of the students, who only responded with their school’s sports cheers in an effort to drown out the vile and racist taunts being spewed at them. Sadly, the Diocese of Covington was quick to condemn its own students before looking at the facts of what actually took place, and the school was forced to cancel today’s classes out of safety concerns for its students and faculty.
Adding
insult to injury, we now are greeted with reports that freshman Congresswoman
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has claimed that if her “Green” agenda is not
immediately acted on and passed into law, the world would be coming to its end in
a dozen years, adding that such a world which tolerates billionaires is
inherently immoral. Just imagine the outrage on the part of the media if a
conservative Republican made such an end-times claim based on Biblical prophecy,
citing eschatological passages in the Old and New Testaments. Yet, predictably,
the mainstream media reported AOC’s claims with little or no critique of her outrageous
statements.
If the
mainstream media did not have such double standards associated with its
coverage, then they would surely have no standards at all, because far too many
segments of the media have now prostituted themselves on the altars of
political correctness and opposition to all things Trump.
Considering such
sources, we are left with nothing more than partisan propaganda designed to achieve
an intended outcome of President Donald Trump’s defeat in the 2020 election- an
obvious “plan B,” if their efforts to impeach the President before hand do not
come to fruition, first.
Cross-Currents of History- “Brexit” and “the Wall”
The summer
and fall of 2016 set into motion a sequence of events, in both the United Kingdom
and in the United States, which teaches much about political mischief and the
will of the people who try to effect change against the tide of political
correctness.
It is
recalled that on June 23rd, 2016, the people of Great Britain voted
on a simple referendum which said, “Should the United Kingdom remain a member of
the European Union or leave the European Union?” In that referendum, 72% of the
electorate weighed in- an astonishing turnout- whereby roughly 52% of voters favored
pulling out of the E.U. and 48% voted to remain. All of the pre-referendum polls
had indicated the measure had no chance of passage. Nevertheless, “Brexit,”
commonly favored by Britain’s Conservative Party (the “Tories”) and generally
opposed by that country’s Labour Party, won the day but resulted in the
resignation of Prime Minister David Cameron who, despite leading the
Conservative Party, resigned his post due to his own opposition to the move. In
his place, Theresa May, Cameron’s former Home Secretary, was elected the new
Prime Minister the following month in order to usher in and effect Britain’s
exit, due to take place March 29th, 2019.
Prime Minister
May, who privately opposed leaving the E.U. outright, spent the next two-and-one-half
years, soft-peddling the exit in the hopes that “Brexit” fever would die down.
In attempting to broker a soft exit from the E.U., the Prime Minister “slow-walked”
the initiative, which came to a head yesterday when members of Parliament overwhelmingly
handed her a two-to-one rejection of her move to leave the European Union in a
not-so-absolute exit. Her brokered deal with the E.U. displeased both
pro-Brexit members of her own party, who rejected the half-baked initiative, as
well anti-Brexit Labour M.P.s, who insist on remaining in the E.U., and both
voting blocs joined to vote down the measure, 432-202.
Meanwhile in
the United States, Donald Trump, who defied all of the polls in both the
Republican primaries and general election, was elected President of the United
States on November 8th, 2016. Central to his campaign was Trump’s promise
to build a border wall along the U.S./Mexican Border. Following his
inauguration on January 20th, 2017, he was assured by the Republican
leadership in Congress, time and time again, that they would take up the
measure once the 2018 mid-term elections were concluded.
Largely out
of stated fears that any attempt to pass border wall funding, prior to the mid-terms,
would negatively impact the chances of Republicans retaining their majority in
the House of Representatives, Speaker Paul Ryan repeatedly thwarted voting on
the measure. His duplicity, given his absolute opposition to the construction
of any such wall, resulted in the Democrats taking over the leadership in the
House, essentially resulting in the stalemate we see today between the
President and the Democrat leadership in the House, along with Democrats in the
Senate.
In the
ironic cross-currents of trans-Atlantic politics, in both the United Kingdom
and in the United States, political correctness has won the day by cowering conservatives
who, rather than acting on the wishes of their own voters, seek to reject the
will of the people and defy their wishes to effect change. This cowardice has resulted
in wholesale rejection by the electorate and has thus empowered liberal
entities who steadfastly remain united in opposition to conservatism. Prime
Minister Theresa May has effectively become the British equivalent of Former House
Speaker Paul Ryan, as she herself is facing a no-confidence vote in the House
of Commons, on this very day.
Jumping Ahead to January 20, 2025: Beware the President of the United States
Politics is
nothing if not cyclical- especially after two-term presidencies.
In our own
lifetime, we have seen a succession of presidents elected as polar opposites to
their immediate predecessors:
Kennedy elected following two terms of Eisenhower;
Nixon elected following two terms of Kennedy/Johnson;
Carter elected following two terms of Nixon (and his successor, Ford);
Reagan elected following Carter’s single term;
Clinton elected following two terms of Reagan and one term of Bush-41;
Bush-43 elected following two terms of Clinton;
Obama elected following two terms of Bush-43;
Trump elected following two terms of Obama.
While President
Donald Trump’s re-election in 2020 cannot be ascertained with any assurance, suffice
to say that none of the “cast of thousands” of Democrat hopefuls have the goods
to wage a successful campaign against “the Donald.”
Not that the
media- given their abject failure to prevent his election in 2016- won’t go all
out against the President when he seeks re-election to the nation’s highest
office in two years. Twentieth and twenty-first century historical trends will almost
guarantee his re-election the next time we endure a presidential campaign. Therefore,
Trump’s re-election will assure that he will be succeeded by his own polar
opposite- and no one in politics today is as diametrically opposed to Donald
Trump as is the freshman Congresswoman from New York’s Fourteenth District than
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Two weeks
prior to the 2024 Presidential election Ocasio-Cortez will celebrate her thirty-fifth
birthday, thus meeting the Constitutional age requirement by a mere fortnight. All
of Hollywood, the mainstream media, and politicos of all stripes will actively and
clandestinely support her candidacy because she will still be young, still be
vivacious and, most importantly, still
check off the criteria of being a Hispanic woman who breaks with the succession
of forty-four men who have held that office.
Think it’s
impossible? Think, again.
Alexandria
Ocasio-Cortez shocked the political world when she successfully unseated Joseph
Crowley (D-NY), a ten-term Congressman who rose through the ranks of his party
to become Chair of the House Democrat Caucus in his final term. Her popularity in
social media, along with the inordinate amount of attention paid to her
grass-roots campaign to wrest away the nomination of such a powerful incumbent,
resulted in her 57% landslide victory in New York’s Fourteenth District
primary. In that particular district, which encompasses the eastern half of the
Bronx and part of north-central Queens, and where half of the resident
population is of Latino and Hispanic heritage, winning the Democrat nomination
to that seat is tantamount to winning the general election in the fall. In
essence, her election to Congress was then guaranteed, and there was little
surprise that she managed to win 78% of the vote in that fall’s general
election.
Despite her
many gaffes and the absurdity of the radical socialist positions she takes on a
host of issues, ranging from taxation, education, immigration, the environment,
income equality and healthcare- just to name a few, no first term
Representative has ever garnered anywhere
near as much media attention as has Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Her doe-eyed
countenance and her toothy smile is irresistible to photographers and
television cameras, alike, and her fellow Democrats in the House queued up just
to have their picture taken with her when she assumed office on January 3rd,
2019. Despite her participation in a climate change sit-in protest outside the
office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on that day, she nevertheless broke
her campaign promise to oppose Speaker Pelosi’s run for the speakership and was
politically savvy enough to then vote for Pelosi’s return to lead the House for
a second time.
Her radical
stances and her self-described “Democrat-Socialist” identification has all but
marginalized Bernie Sanders (I-VT) who essentially coined the term in his doomed
2016 run against Hillary Clinton. The mere fact that she won in the very same
election which saw the defeat of that other “darling” of Democrat-Socialism,
Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke (D-TX), gives her a decided advantage over the
Bobby Kennedy-wannabe. While his use of the “Beto” nickname is a fallacious
attempt to portray himself as Hispanic (he actually is of Irish decent), her
ethnic roots are the “real deal” in a party where ethnicity and gender (forgive
the term) trumps all else.
Rest assured
that, given the inordinately perverse amount of attention paid to her thus far,
and kid-glove handling by the major media who sees her as the sine qua non rising star of Democrat and
liberal politics, there is nothing holding her back from climbing the ladder of
her party to win the 2024 nomination. By then, she will have tempered her
penchant to put her foot in her own mouth and she will have acquired just
enough discretion to stave off any Democrat challengers who would seek to
disrupt her own presidential ambitions. Anyone who believes that the media was “all
in” for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election (and they were) hasn’t seen
anything comparable to the coverage she will receive six years hence.
Ironically,
that same year of 2024 will coincide with the time we will be eligible to begin
receiving full Social Security benefits (assuming they still exist) and it will
be the measly pittance of our own Individual Retirement Account (IRA) that
President Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will seize in order to redistribute- all in
the dubious name of “fairness” and “income equality.”
So much for
a life of hard work and financial forbearance, sorry to say.
Fifteen Minutes to the Truth: Trump’s Address and the Democrats’ Response
Last night,
in the ten minutes it took the President of the United States, and in the five
minutes it took the Speaker of the House and the Senate Minority Leader, to
discuss the logjam in negotiations on border security and the partial
government shutdown, the truth concerning all of the hubris surrounding these
issues came to the forefront…and it wasn’t pretty.
Sadly, many of the President’s supporters who decided to skip the response from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) missed an opportunity to see the full truth on display. Concurrently, Democrat supporters who decided to skip President Donald Trump’s first address from the Oval Office also missed an opportunity to see the truth concerning these two issues.
For the rest
of us who invested the requisite nineteen minutes in order to see both of these
speeches, the real truth about Washington, D.C. and all that ails it was on
full display for all the world to see…and, again, it wasn’t pretty.
In his address to the nation, President Trump did an exemplary job in explaining the nature of what has been and is taking place along the U.S./Mexican border. In copious detail, he recounted the very real human tragedy taking place as a direct result of our flawed immigration policies and the lack of effective border security. The president enumerated the list of harmful and dangerous drugs- meth, heroin, cocaine and fentanyl- pouring into the United States through the porous border separating our two countries, indicating that more Americans will die each and every year, as the result of this smuggling, than died in fifteen years of the war in Viet Nam. He laid real numbers on the crime statistics directly resulting from this illegal immigrant entry during the last two years- 266,000 arrests, 100,000 assaults, 30,000 sex crimes and 4,000 homicides. He told a watching nation of the perils that beset women, one out of three of whom are sexually assaulted, and children making the trek from Central America, including tens of thousands of unaccompanied children who have been sent across the border by those who have no interest in their welfare, and many of whom are being used as “human pawns by vicious coyotes and ruthless gangs.”
The President also reviewed the specific proposals of what he has submitted to Congress, based upon recommendations from the Department of Homeland Security, border agents and law enforcement professionals, which include humanitarian assistance, medical care, technology for detecting drugs, weapons and other illegal contraband. Included in his proposals is $5.7 billion to repair, replace and construct barricades designed to prevent illegal crossings and funnel migration into ports of entry, where each migrant can be identified, assessed and evaluated as to their qualifications for entry. He has asked the Congress to enact immigration reform that will close the current loopholes which otherwise prevent unaccompanied children from being returned to their families in the countries of their origin.
He also recalled
four very real and personal accounts of those American citizens in California, Georgia
and Maryland who have been savagely victimized by illegal aliens and the very real
pain that their families have had to endure, saying he will never forget how
these tragic instances have affected real people across our country.
After a
three-minute pause between the two speeches, it was the Democrats’ turn to
respond to the President’s address and oh, how they did respond…
Without any
mention of the illegality and the resulting criminality of what is taking
place, and without any specific proposals on what they define as border
security, Speaker Pelosi and Minority Leader Schumer instead took the occasion
to deny that the crisis which the President enumerated even exists, accusing
the president of manufacturing the crisis and fomenting malicious hatred
towards those who seek entry into the United States. Accusing the President of “holding
the American people hostage,” engaging in a “temper tantrum,” and shutting down
government- all in an effort to build a wall which they see as no deterrent and
ineffective to ensure border security- they instead insisted that the President
end the shutdown with empty promises that they would subsequently engage in
further dialogue following the end of the shutdown. Despite the fact that both
of these Democrat leaders have in the past voted in favor of border barricades only
to see such votes amount to nothing, and the fact that neither has done anything
in their combined 52 years of holding office to bring real solutions to
immigration and border control, they presented a fantasy of wanting to address
the problem- but only after the President “caves” on the shutdown and abandons
his insistence of “building a wall.”
While the
President still seeks to end the impasse by arriving upon reasonable compromise,
it is the Democrats who insist upon stonewalling the President- all because
they hate the man and will deny him any possible victory, and all for the sake
of political gamesmanship.
Fifteen minutes to the ugly truth, one which any impartial observer can plainly see- a President who has vowed to uphold the oath of his office by protecting the citizens he was elected to serve, and the overtly-partisan leaders of his opposition who would sooner let the country fall down and continue to see American lives ruined than to work towards a solution to a very real problem that has existed for decades, and has reached a crisis point that is as undeniable as it is in need of permanent resolution.
