Progress Report and Note of Thanks

First, I would like to thank each and every one of you who have taken the time to read some of the 300+ essays which I have written and posted during the past three years. Much to my surprise, my essays have been read in 83 countries on six continents, something I would have never dreamed possible when I began sharing my thoughts on Facebook a few years ago.

In June of this year and for the first time ever, my monthly views from readers like you have surpassed the 2,000 threshold and my annual views so far in 2018 have almost doubled what they were in each of the entire years of 2016 and 2017.

None of this would have been possible without you, my Facebook friends and followers, and this readership is just starting to expand into LinkedIn, Twitter, Google and even Instagram.

I am very appreciatively yours,

Donald Trump and the Supremes

Donald Trump and the Supremes

If there is anything we have learned in the last week or so, it is that elections- presidential elections- really do matter. This is especially true, given the “teeter-totter” balance amongst the Supreme Court which, more often than not, decides contentious cases on a 5-4 margin. Just within the last two weeks, the Supreme Court decided:

  • that the state cannot force a baker to make a wedding cake for a gay couple, if doing so violates a religious tenet held by the baker, pursuant to the First Amendment’s freedom of religion;
  • that public sector union membership and remission of dues by governmental employees, for that membership as payroll deductions, cannot be compulsory and must be consented to affirmatively by each and every employee, pursuant to the First Amendment’s freedoms of speech and assembly;
  • that organizations which advocate and support right-to-life alternatives to abortions cannot be compelled by the state to offer either abortion counseling, abortion referral or abortion information, pursuant to the first amendment’s freedom of religion;
  • that state governments retain the right to purge voter registration rolls, based upon four years of voter non-participation and failure to respond to notices from the state’s election commission;
  • that the President of the United States has the constitutional authority to determine under which circumstances immigration from specific countries is controlled or proscribed, pursuant to his powers as chief executive.

In each of these rulings, a flip of a single vote (or two) would have resulted in the opposite ruling being made. In other words, if the Senate under Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) had violated precedent and the Joe Biden (D-DE) “rule,” by allowing Obama-appointed Merrick Garland’s nomination to proceed during a presidential election year, or if Hillary Clinton had won the 2016 presidential election, these rulings would have gone the other way.

Yesterday, June 26th, the very “fulcrum beneath the teeter-totter” in each of these decisions, Justice Anthony Kennedy, went to see President Trump as a courtesy call in advance of his announcement that he is retiring immediately, concurrent with the end of the Court’s springtime term. It was Kennedy who functioned as the unpredictable “swing vote” in a host of controversial decisions during the last three decades, and in doing so, his credentials as a conservative swayed back and forth, as well. In reply, the President thanked the retiring Justice for his service to the Court, going back to Kennedy’s nomination by then-President Ronald Reagan in 1987, and also thanked Kennedy for allowing him to name his replacement during his own term as President- again reminding us that presidential election have consequences and that resulting Supreme Court nominations can shape the third branch of the federal government for decades.

In an unprecedented stroke of pure brilliance during the 2016 presidential campaign, then-candidate Donald Trump published a list of twenty judges and former jurists, from whom he would select future nominees to the high court. Since his run for the White House, the President has added five names to the original list, and it will be among these couple dozen- including Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) and Lee’s brother, a judge in his own right, from whom the President will make a decision. Each and every one of the men and women on Trump’s list is a constitutional constructionist, preferring to rule on the basis of what the Constitution actually says, as in the case of Justices Alito, Gorsuch, Thomas, and to a lesser extent Roberts, and as opposed to activist judges (the preferred choice of liberals) who attempt to create law from the bench, as is the case of Justices Breyer, Bader-Ginsburg, Kagan and Sotomayor.

So, Trump’s decision will be a crucial one, and the nomination’s voting which Senate Majority Leader McConnell has already announced will take place in the early autumn, prior to the mid-term elections in November, will make for quite a show in the United States Senate.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is already posturing, insisting that the nomination be held up until after the mid-terms, but even Schumer knows that he has no standing nor any legitimate reason for attempting to delay this nomination. Save for the remote chance that Trump’s nominee is tripped up in hearings by Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Trump will get his second Supreme Court pick.

Given the fact that Justices Breyer and Bader-Ginsburg are both in their eighties, it can be reasonably assumed that their respective retirements will provide the next Supreme Court vacancies and, if Donald Trump wins re-election in 2020, he will have at least two more opportunities to select their replacements. If this indeed happens, Trump will have been given a very rare opportunity to name four, or perhaps even five of the nine Justices on the Supreme Court, something only Presidents Washington and Franklin Roosevelt were accorded.

So, while Senator Schumer can sing You Can’t Hurry Love to the top of his lungs, it is Donald Trump and the Supremes who will hit the top of the charts, and thus change the direction of the Supreme Court for a long time to come- yet another reason his voters elected him in the first place.

Once again… advantage, Trump.

Hatred from the Left… How America is Inching towards a Second Civil War

Hatred from the Left… How America is Inching towards a Second Civil War

One of first casualties of war is the truth, often occurring even before a war begins.

An example of such a lie… the idea that both sides of the political spectrum are equally to blame for the absolute hate which now exists in political discourse in today’s society.

Cases in point:

It wasn’t Republican legislators who boycotted a presidential inauguration and it wasn’t Republicans who organized protest marches in many cities on that day which devolved into violence, mayhem and destruction, with celebrities calling for bombing the White House.

It wasn’t a Republican former President of the United States who has actively coordinated and fomented a “resistance movement” against his successor, and then goes around the world trying to undermine everything that his successor is attempting to achieve on the world stage.

It wasn’t a Republican who went onto an Alexandria, Virginia baseball field and attempted to kill as many Congressmen as he could.

It wasn’t registered Republicans who have been shown with mock-up severed heads of a President, or who have called members of the President’s family “c***s,” or advocated assassinating the President, or kidnapping the President’s twelve-year-old son, and putting him in a cage with pedophiles, or placing the President’s Homeland Security Secretary in the nude, tied to a whipping post, and allowing passers-by to take turns flogging her with a whip.

It wasn’t a Republican intern who shouted, “F** you, Trump” in the halls of Congress.

It wasn’t Republicans who entered a D.C. restaurant and verbally harangued Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, while she was attempting to enjoy a quiet supper with her husband, only to leave the restaurant during the meal, and return home to find the same level of hostility being spewed in front of her house.

It wasn’t Republicans in Florida who verbally harassed that state’s Attorney General, Pam Bondi, while she and her boyfriend went to see a motion-picture documentary on Mr. Rogers, before, during and after the screening.

It wasn’t a Republican restaurant owner in Lexington, Virginia who asked White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders to leave the restaurant where her party had made reservations beforehand… that same restaurateur then organizing a vehement and harassing protest in front another restaurant across the street where many of the Huckabee Sanders party subsequently attempted to dine.

It wasn’t a Republican Congresswoman from California, one Maxine Waters (D-CA), who publicly implored her constituents to continue harassing Trump’s cabinet members at all venues where they might be found in an effort to drive them from continuing to serve in the Trump administration, nor was it a Republican Senator from New Jersey, one Cory Booker (D-NJ), who echoed similar sentiments.

No, these are the tactics that Democrats and other members of the political left utilize to foment the socialist revolution they seek. These are the Democrats and other radical leftists who have taken hatred and intolerance to an all-new low, and who are fanning the flames of violence in the streets of our cities and towns, just because they cannot get their heads wrapped around the idea that a member of the opposing political party actually won an election, fairly and squarely, and one who is now seeking to keep the promises he made during his own presidential campaign.

Left unchecked, this leftist lunacy will no doubt result in a second American civil war- something that the media- all of it- desperately hopes will occur, just so they can blame it on… President Donald J. Trump, conservatives and Republicans.

We are reminded of what Golda Meir once said, “There will only be peace when they begin to love their children more than they hate us.”

Make no mistake as to where the hate is coming from… and it isn’t Trump, Republicans, conservatives, or the right.

As Summer Begins – Uncovering the Deep State that Exists in Washington, D.C.

As Summer Begins – Uncovering the Deep State that Exists in Washington, D.C.

This afternoon, Wednesday June 20th, with the occurrence of the semi-annual solstice, Summer officially begins for those of us living in the Northern Hemisphere of this good Earth, while Winter begins for much of South America, sub-Saharan Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica and all of the other locales “down under.”

With the change of seasons, emerges an uncovering of a Deep State that does, in fact, exist in Washington, D.C.

Oh, we have suspected for years and perhaps even decades, that a shadow government- deeply entrenched, unelected, and all together unaccountable- wields an enormous amount of un-constitutional rule over our federal government. A “Deep State,” which transcends the administrative, legislative and judiciary balance of powers outlined in the United States Constitution, has long been on the whispered lips of fair-minded observers, otherwise fearful of the retribution that would attend to such revelation being made public.

Nevertheless, the “Deep State” exists and its uncovering was cemented in the release of the Inspector General’s Report on the Hillary Clinton e-mail investigation and how that investigation was handled by the FBI and Justice Department, in late 2015 and throughout much of 2016.

Appearing before oversight committees in both the House and the Senate this week, Inspector General Michael Horowitz- the man heading the probe into how the FBI and Justice Department handled this investigation answered questions on the details and substance of his report, and the conclusions he arrived upon in summarizing the report.

Essentially, the 560-page report was replete with instance upon instance of procedural and personal bias expressed by Peter Strzok, Lisa Page and other top-ranking FBI and Justice Department employees who were in charge of both the Hillary Clinton e-mail investigation and the subsequent investigation into allegations of Trump/Russia Collusion, during the 2016 campaign. The report’s findings, though in summation fell short of determining an absolute politically-motivated reason for James Comey’s decision to exonerate Mrs. Clinton, nevertheless details multiple instances of bias on the part of investigators, calling into question their base motives in how they handled the investigation.

The many texts appearing on government-issued phones and other smart devices reveals a hatred and scorn for then-Presidential candidate Donald Trump, that borders on the psychotic. Yet, these are the people who not only were appointed to take charge of an investigation into documented crimes committed by Hillary Clinton and her associates, but then were appointed to launch an investigation into alleged Russian/Trump collusion and were subsequently appointed by Robert Mueller to be part of his own investigation into same.

What also became clear in the IG report, and in the Horowitz hearings on Capitol Hill, is that corruption in the FBI and Justice Department goes well beyond these miscreants, with references to concert and sporting event tickets, vacation packages, golf outings and dinner invitations routinely being extended to FBI agents by major media outlets and news organizations, in exchange for leaking information on these and other FBI investigations.

Even more disconcerting is the fact that the Justice Department, effectively being headed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in the wake of Attorney General Jeff Session’ recusal from these investigations, and the FBI under Director Christopher Wray, have wantonly and repeatedly refused to produce subpoenaed documents to appropriate Congressional oversight committees, all in a bogus attempt to justify their non-compliance under dubious and ridiculous claims of protecting national security. In fact, there are no national security concerns in hiding from the public the extent to which the “Deep State” is entrenched, other than the fact that it blows the lid off of a shadow government which believes itself to be above the law and exempt from Constitutional restraints on how they use their offices to control, surveil and subvert political and legal processes in a country founded on quite the opposite.

Case in point:

On August 8th, 2016, FBI Attorney and Mueller Investigation Team Member Lisa Page sent a text to her extra-marital lover FBI Agent Peter Strzok, saying, “(Trump is) not ever going to become president, right? Right ?!?” This particular text message was not revealed to Congress until May of this year…disturbing enough. Yet, as incredulous as it sounds, Strzok’s reply to this text message was not revealed until this week, with the issuance of the IG report, where he answered, “No. No, he’s not. We’ll stop it.”

This is perhaps the most egregious example of personal bias expressed between these two, but it is the actions of Mr. Strzok and Mrs. Page before, during and after the Clinton e-mail investigation which places the above exchange between himself and Page in context of criminal collaboration with Hillary Clinton, prior to that investigation’s conclusion, as well as criminal bias against Donald Trump even before the investigation into Russian collusion began.

This was revealed when in late September, 2016, Strzok and his boss, Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, sat on revelations that top-secret documents appeared on Anthony Weiner’s laptop proving what constitutes criminal espionage on the part of Hillary Clinton, while driving headfirst into the Trump/Russian allegations both before and after the election. Ironically, their efforts to delay revelation of this discovery resulted in James Comey’s October 28th 2016 letter to Congress, saying that the investigation into Clinton’s illegal use of a private e-mail server had been re-opened, due to new revelations coming to light.

Following the election of Donald Trump, the effort to prevent his election by Strzok, Page and others transcended into an effort to sabotage Trump’s presidency, and their efforts to do so led to James Comey’s illegal leaking of classified conversations with Trump and other such documents, and whose firing subsequently resulted in the intentional appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller in May of 2017, launching his own investigation into Trump/Russia collusion. Among Mueller’s first appointments to his own team were none other than Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.

So, the entire sordid Mueller investigation was inherently corrupt, both at its very inception and for several months following, as it was only several months later when Mueller fired both Strzok and Page from his investigative team- a team entirely comprised of Clinton donors and supporters of her candidacy.

No politically-motivated reasons for James Comey to exonerate Hillary Clinton (something he had no authority to do in the first place)?

Yeah, right.

If all of this was merely a matter (as Obama’s Attorney General Loretta Lynch prefers to refer) of covering up for crimes committed by Hillary Clinton, or an attempt to prevent Donald Trump’s election and effect his impeachment through fraudulent means, that would be bad enough.

Worse, we now know of an undeniable and irrefutable “Deep State” operating at the highest levels of our federal government, comprised of deeply entrenched, unelected, and all together unaccountable career officials who place themselves above and beyond our laws and our Constitution…

…and it will take a strong and incorruptible President, namely one Donald J. Trump, to drain the swamp as he has oft-promised, fire the lot of them and let the chips fall where they will.

This must end, or else the United States of America, as a sovereign, independent and free country will see its end.

A Father’s Prayer

(author’s note- In May, 1999, as the father of two children, I wrote the following “Father’s Prayer.” On this Father’s Day, and in honor of all our fathers- both living and dead- I wanted to share this with each of you, as you take a moment to remember your own father)

A Father’s Prayer

Thank you for this day, oh Lord,
Thank you for my life;
Thank you for my children, Lord,
Thank you for my wife;

Hold me in your loving hands
On this, and every day;
And as I traverse distant lands,
Keep me in your Way;

Make me mindful of your will
In all my thoughts and deeds;
Keep me strong and faithful ’til
That day when life recedes;

Keep me always in your Grace
With every word I say,
In every time, and every place,
Until my final day;

Let not temptation trouble me:
Nor lies, nor spiteful hate;
Let not the serpent’s poisoned tree
Lure me, at any rate;

And when my last day beckons, Lord,
With no more days to live,
Then, in my final seconds, Lord,
For all my wrongs, forgive.

IG Report (Part I) – Despite Claims to the Contrary, a Tale of Political Bias Emerges

IG Report (Part I) – Despite Claims to the Contrary, a Tale of Political Bias Emerges

Yesterday, June 13th, following a seventeen-month-long investigation, the Inspector General’s Report on how the FBI and the Justice Department mishandled the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s illegal use of a private server while she was Secretary of State, was finally released. In its summation, Inspector General Michael Horowitz concluded that there was no conclusive evidence that political bias played a part in the decision not to bring charges against Mrs. Clinton, despite the fact that the report was replete with evidence of political bias on the part of senior officials at the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Amongst its findings were:

– that FBI Director James Comey was insubordinate in his July 2016 announcement that, despite evidence of crimes committed by Mrs. Clinton, no charges would be levied against her. In doing so, Comey usurped the authority of Attorney General Loretta Lynch and stepped well outside his bounds as head of the bureau charged with investigation, as it is beyond the purview of the FBI to decide whether or not criminal charges are brought forth;

– that Assistant FBI Director Andrew McCabe illegally leaked documents relating to the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private server, as it is standard operating policy that no such leakage is allowed during an active investigation;

– that the FBI Agent in charge of the Hillary Clinton e-mail investigation, one Peter Strzok, willfully and knowingly sat on evidence of illegal dissemination of classified information when emails containing “secret documents” appeared on a laptop computer owned by Huma Abedin and her husband, Anthony Weiner, who was not authorized to view such documents- clear violations of established law, and the fact that this information was also obtained by foreign operative constitutes espionage on the part of Hillary Clinton;

– that Attorney General Loretta Lynch gave the appearance of impropriety when she met with former President Bill Clinton on an Arizona tarmac just days before Mrs. Clinton was questioned by FBI agents, in direct violation of Justice Department policy;

– that at least five FBI agents, including Peter Strzok, expressed overt bias against Donald J. Trump, both as candidate and as President-elect, in text messages exchanged with Lisa Page, which promised to prevent his election and sabotage his subsequent presidency, and in other communiques expressing contempt for American citizens who voted for candidate Donald Trump in the 2016 Presidential Election;

– that former President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton used private e-mail accounts, under pseudonyms to hide their identities, to communicate with each other on official business, and that James Comey also used a private e-mail account to illegally communicate with members of the mainstream media in like fashion;

– that several employees of the Federal Bureau of Investigation accepted gifts of vacations, golf outings and other such forms of entertainment from members of the mainstream media, in exchange for illegal leaks of classified information, and in direct violation of bureau policies and federal law.

To suggest that politics had no bearing on the Clinton e-mail investigation is ludicrous, to say the least, given the activities of senior-level FBI and Justice Department officials charged with investigating actual crimes committed by Hillary Clinton and alleged collusion between the Trump Campaign and Russia. The fact that James Comey was found to be grossly insubordinate in his announcement exonerating Hillary Clinton is also proof positive that President Donald Trump was well within his bounds to fire the FBI Director, thus disproving any charges that the new President obstructed justice in doing so.

Inspector General Michael Horowitz has yet to release the reports of his investigation into the circumstances surrounding the investigation into allegations of Russian collusion with the Trump campaign (part II) and in the use of undocumented and salacious dossiers (part III), paid for by Hillary Clinton and the DNC, to obtain FISA warrants to surveil American citizens associate with the Trump campaign.

In these subsequent releases, Mr. Horowitz will either vouchsafe claims that he has pursued these investigations without political bias, or else confirm that he is nothing more than another part of a deep state whose aims are to sabotage the Trump presidency and cover up the crimes committed by Hillary Clinton. His due diligence in thoroughly investigating the events surrounding the FBI’s handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton, though commendable, does not in and of itself, prove that politics did not play a large role in both his investigation, and in the investigation of Mrs. Clinton.

While his report does suggest the illegitimacy of the circumstances under which rogue members of the FBI brought about the Mueller investigation (after all, it was James Comey who placed Peter Strzok in charge of the investigation into Russian collusion and it was Comey who leaked information to the press concerning this investigation, which resulted in the Mueller probe), we won’t know the full story about what prompted the Mueller investigation until such time as these reports are made public.

Stay tuned…it is all just beginning to hit the fan.

Singapore Summit: Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un Make History with Agreement

Singapore Summit: Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un Make History with Agreement

On Tuesday, June 12, 2018, President Donald J. Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un formally signed an historic agreement which commits the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to the complete and total denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. After their historic face-to-face meeting, the first ever between a U.S. President and a North Korean Leader, the two held a signing ceremony for an agreement which stipulates that:

1. The United States and the DPRK commit to establish new US-DPRK relations in accordance with the desire of peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity.

2. The United States and the DPRK will join in their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.

3. Reaffirming the April 27, 2018 Panmunjom Declaration, the DPRK commits to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

4. The United States and the DPRK commit to recovering POW/MIA remains, including the immediate repatriation of those already identified.

Further, the two parties to the agreement commit to implement the stipulations in the joint agreement fully and expeditiously and to hold follow-on negotiations between Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and his North Korean counterpart, at the earliest possible date, to implement the outcomes of this summit. Both parties have also committed to cooperate for the development of new US-DPRK relations and for the promotion of peace, prosperity and the security of the Korean Peninsula and of the world.

Absent from the text of the agreement were any details concerning the means by which verification of the denuclearization will occur, although the President has indicated that such verification will be essential prior to any sanctions, currently in place, being lifted. Also, the President indicated that joint military exercises between the United States and the Republic of Korea (ROK) will be suspended indefinitely, as an effort to show good faith towards the North Korean leadership.

Also missing from the agreement were any references to human rights abuses on the part of North Korea, although the President noted that future discussions will include addressing these concerns when the time is appropriate to do so.

The President also indicated that he will, at some point in the future, invite the North Korean Leader to the White House and that he would also be willing to visit Pyongyang as well.

While there is much remaining to be worked out between the two nations as to how these commitments will be implemented, the fact remains that the agreement signed in Singapore represents an historic and crucial first step in establishing a lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula, following sixty-five years of ongoing hostilities between North and South Korea. In a Korean War which cost tens of thousands of American lives, and hundreds of thousands of Korean lives, the uneasy cessation of armed hostilities has heretofore left the resolution of that war uncertain. This agreement between President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un may well prove to facilitate a formal ending to the Korean War, something never though possible prior to Donald Trump’s presidency.

To those who would continue to disparage the President and call his negotiating skills into question, it might well be asked, “How do you like them apples?”

Pax vobiscum.

Trump’s Message to America’s Workers at the G-7 Summit

Trump’s Message to America’s Workers at the G-7 Summit

It was the fall of 1974 and yours truly was beginning his sophomore year of high school. During a favorite television variety show of the day, the Carol Burnett Show, a red-headed singer named Helen Reddy sang a song that would reach #9 on the Billboard Top 100 Chart in September of that same year. The song’s title was You and Me Against the World, and a fresh look at the song’s lyrics ironically describes the precise message that President Donald Trump sent out to the American worker while participating in the G-7 Summit in Charlevoix, Quebec:

“You and me against the world-
Sometimes it seems like you and me against the world,
When all their backs have turned away
You can count on me to stay

Remember when the circus came to town
How you were frightened by the clown
Wasn’t it nice to be around someone that you knew
Someone who was big and strong and looking out for you

You and me against the world-
Sometimes it seems like you and me against the world
And for all the times we cried, I always felt that
God was on our side

And when one of us has gone,
And one of us is left to carry on,
Then remembering what we will have to do
Our memories alone will get us through
Think about the days of me and you
Of you and me against the world…”

-Kenneth Lee Ascher and Paul H. Williams
©1974, BMG Rights Management US LLC

Granted, Australian-born Helen Reddy, now 76 years old, would likely become irate were she to learn about this tie-in of President Trump to her hit song. Nevertheless, the similarity of its lyrics to the message Donald Trump was sending to America’s workers and the world about international trade is almost inescapable.

After all, it seems like all of our allies, all of our adversaries, all of the domestic political forces allayed against him- including Democrats, anti-Trump and NeverTrump Republicans, and practically all of the mainstream media have united once again in their fundamental opposition to his presidency. No matter the issue, this cabal of opposition can be relied upon to oppose the president because, at day’s end, they simply don’t like the man…no news here.

Yet, when it comes to world trade, the fact is undeniable that since the end of the second world war, seventy-three years ago, the entire world has enjoyed the vastly unfair, inequivalent and lopsided trade arrangements between the United States and the rest of America’s trading partners. Many countries place enormous tariffs on American products going into their countries, while the United States imposes comparatively little, if any in some cases, duties in return for their products coming into this country. This inequity hurts the American products’ competitiveness in the world market and is especially cruel on the American worker who manufactures these same products. This is precisely the reason that, while Japanese motorcycles- Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha- can be found on any street in the United States, one would be hard-pressed to find a Harley-Davidson anywhere on the Japanese islands. Their tariffs on our motorcycles are nearly 100%, while our tariffs on their motorcycles are practically nil.

This same gross imbalance applies to a host of products coming from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom- the other members of the G-7 group meeting in Charlevoix, whose leaders have taken great offense at our president’s message to them- that the days of unfair trade practices have come to an end.

It shouldn’t be any surprise that President Trump wants to end these practices. His entire campaign was predicated on ending these imbalances in an effort to provide relief to an American workforce who has suffered from the effects these imbalances, for decades.

Globalists and internationalists, within and outside the United States, would love to continue sticking it to the American worker- after all, it’s not the only case in which our veritable pockets are picked clean. Just look at the trillions we spend defending the world and, specifically these allies, against would-be aggressors throughout the globe…nothing like the proverbial dog biting the hand that feeds it.

Pardon our president for having the chutzpah to keep his promises, a novel concept to politicians not used to bearing such fidelity to their word.

Predictably, John McCain (R-AZ), who despises all things Trump, took the occasion to once again slam our duly-elected president, saying in a tweet:

“To our allies, bi-partisan majorities of Americans remain pro-free trade, pro-globalization and supportive of alliances based on 70 years of shared values. Americans stand with you, even if our president doesn’t.”

Brain tumor or not, John McCain has once again shown the world that, despite the years he spent as a P.O.W., he is no hero and no patriot, either. He is however, a demagogue who would rather betray his country and his president, than admit to any good President might achieve.

So as President Donald Trump embarks on an historic mission in Singapore, to try and leverage North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un to give up his nuclear weapons program, we can expect a complete lack of support from all of those who wish nothing but failure on an American president- one whose message to his own countrymen is simply…

“…you and me against the world.”

God help him.

Drew Nickell is back on the Radio, Thursday 7 June 2018 at 1:00 PM, EDT

On Thursday, June 7th, I was back on the radio, sitting in for Nora Firestone on the Nora Firestone Show on WKQA-AM Freedom 1110  in Hampton Roads.  During the broadcast, I will be discussing  the coarsening of political and social debate in our rhetoric, the inevitable race towards technological singularity and I will also be interviewing Republican Congressional candidate Mary Jones in advance of Virginia’s Primary Election, next Tuesday, June 12th.

This was also simulcast as a Facebook Live presentation for those who live outside our listening area.

The Coarsening Dialog of Discourse- How Low Can It Go?

The Coarsening Dialog of Discourse- How Low Can It Go?

The coarsening dialog of discourse in the body politic within the United States is speeding towards rock bottom. Yet it begs the question still, “Just how low can it go?”

We all know about Kathy Griffin and her photo showing a decapitated Donald Trump and the invective she hurls at the President on a regular basis, all the while blaming Trump and his family for the demise of her career.

We all know about Chelsea Handler who doubled down on her mockery and her insults directed towards First Lady Melania Trump, upbraiding Mrs. Trump for her accent despite the fact that the President’s wife is fluent in five languages.

We all know about Michelle Wolf who unabashedly hurled personal insults at White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, during this year’s White House Correspondents Dinner. Wolf was rewarded for her efforts by getting her own show on Netflix, thanks to newly appointed board members Barack and Michelle Obama, who gained their new appointments in exchange for campaign contributions by the network’s chief programming officer Ted Sarandos. It was Sarandos who Obama also appointed as ambassador to the Bahamas, so the ties between the two go way back.

And most recently Samantha Bee, another so-called comedian, referred to the President’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, as a “feckless c***(rhymes with ‘hunt’)” on her late-night television show. Sadly, many Hollywood liberals are circling the wagons around Bee, including actress Sally Field who, at one time, played a nun on a popular 1960’s sitcom.

There are many more examples of low blows directed at the President and his family, going places and to degrees never before seen in the ever-coarsening course of our nation’s discourse. Given the fact that comedian and actress Roseanne Barr- no stranger herself to “f-bombs” and coarse language- lost her highly popular reboot of “Rosanne” on ABC, following her ill-considered tweet about Obama’s one-time senior advisor and mentor, Valerie Jarrett, it also has revealed the double standard of outrage that exists today. A liberal, or an otherwise anti-Trump-er can say anything and get away with it, but not a conservative or anyone who supports the President…in a word, sickening.

Yet, the disgusting diatribe which exists today goes well beyond the hills of Hollywood, and even extends now to candidates running for elective office.

Take for instance Virginia’s tenth congressional district. It comprises the northernmost tip of the Old Dominion. Containing Clarke, Frederick and Loudon counties, along with the independent cities of Manassas and Manassas Park, it also includes portions of Fairfax and Prince William counties and even touches Washington, DC to the west. Presently represented by moderate Republican Barbara Comstock (R-VA). two others are vying for Comstock’s seat. One, a Democrat, is Dan Helmer and the other is an independent, Nathan Larson.

Larson, who served a year in federal prison for sending an e-mail detailing plans to kill then-President-elect Barack Obama in 2008, is…get this…an open advocate for pedophilia one who has even launched several websites allowing pedophiles to discuss child rape, having once bragged about choking and raping his ex-wife. Following their divorce, she committed suicide. If not for former Governor Terry McAuliffe’s (D-VA) decision to restore voting and candidacy rights to convicted felons in 2016, Larson would otherwise be prohibited from running for office in the first place- yet another parting “gift” to the Commonwealth from Bill Clinton’s one-time presidential campaign manager and chairman of the DNC.

For his own part Democrat Dan Helmer, an Iraqi war veteran, has launched a recent television ad which states:

“In 2001, this man (showing a picture of Osama Bin Laden) was the world’s greatest threat to democracy. In 2018, the world’s greatest threat to democracy lives in the White House (showing a picture of the White House).”

In Virginia’s tenth congressional district, such are the voters’ alternatives to the incumbent Republican…one, an admitted pervert and the other, a demagogue given towards making a ludicrous comparison of a duly-elected President Trump to Osama Bin Ladin.

How low can it all go…?

God only knows, and He ain’t happy, either…
