In the Autumn of the Year(s), October Beckons

When it comes to politics in an election year, no month can bring out the “crazies” like October. Perhaps it is sheer irony that the autumnal month of deciduous reds, yellows and oranges ends with Hallowe’en- a night of fright when the costumed ghosts and skeletons of our youth roam the streets in search of treats.

It has become practically cliché that an “October surprise” is in the offing- that sudden, unexpected and world-shaking revelation that can tip a political campaign on its heels and cause all kinds of consternation in the body politic. We never seem to see it coming, are always stunned at the content of its unfolding and then, with hindsight, pretend that we knew what was going to happen, all along.

Just as we can be sure that somewhere within the clandestine closets of congressional corruption, a burgeoning bulletin bides its time, awaiting the exact moment when its revelation can prove most damaging. Democrats have long made the “October surprise” something of an art form, most likely because the popularity of their stances on issues leaves much to be desired in their own right.

The eleventh-hour revelation of Christine Blasey Ford’s specious claim against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, which erupted just as the Senate had concluded its advice and consent hearings and was proceeding towards a committee vote, was not dissimilar to an “October Surprise.” The fact that it came a month earlier than usual is beside the point.

Rest assured, though, that Democrats have a loaded arsenal of “October Surprises” just waiting for opportune moments to detonate in a well-timed series of planned executions- whether these are intended to further delay the vote on Kavanaugh’s nomination, or to ensure a takeover of the House of Representatives.

Let’s face it. When it comes to fair play, Democrats have no soul and absolutely no sense of right and wrong. Whatever it takes to gain and retain power is fair game to them and, if an honorable man like Judge Kavanaugh is caught up in the maelstrom and his family is destroyed in the process, that’s okay so long as it delivers the intended, infernal results they seek.

What the Democrats lack in altruism, the Republicans just as surely lack in determination and resolve. In fact, the way all-too-many Republicans react to the most nefarious of Democratic tricks, it might be easily argued that their elephantine mascot should be replaced with a spineless jellyfish. In their Quixote-like quest to show sensitivity and understanding, it’s just as predictable that they will be bowled over by Democrats who can count on Republican vacillation- whether it is funding for a border wall, or standing by their President’s selection for the Supreme Court.

Here is a prediction:

Judge Brett Kavanaugh, in the end, will be confirmed…but only by a smidgen in the Senate, with Vice President Mike Pence breaking the tie…and Republicans will then retain their majority in both houses of Congress…

Now IF (and it’s a big “if”) this is wrong, and the Democrats are successful in either taking him down (with the help of two RINOs) or stalling the vote on Kavanaugh until after the mid-term elections, then the Republicans will lose BOTH houses of Congress, the Democrats in the House will vote to impeach President Trump, and the Senate will finish the job (with the help of the anti-Trump/NeverTrump Republicans). Then, this will usher in the ultimate downfall of the United States, which will become a weak socialist state, our wealth will end up being sent overseas, and we will cease being an independent nation by the 2024 Election.

I say this because if he is not confirmed, it will be more because of Republican weakness and spinelessness, than Democrat treachery, and large parts of the Republican base will not reward spinelessness and weakness with further support.

With Republican caving to (count ‘em) yet a seventh FBI investigation of Judge Kavanaugh, it is all because the anti-Trump/NeverTrump ne’er-do-well and so-called Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, one Jeff Flake (R-AZ), got his crooked nose out of joint when accosted by a trio of feminist wackos in a “restricted” elevator. Then, the oh-so-appropriately-named Flake had the hit put on him by his Democrat friend in the Senate Chris Coons (D-DE), who got Flake to change his “yes” to a qualified “yes,” stipulating that the FBI launch a week-long investigation into Ford’s accusation, which essentially gave the Democrats more time to dig up more dirt. The next day, Flake stood beside Coon on stage in New York City, and bragged that he would welcome any and all to join him in an elevator car, anytime. He’s already made up his feeble mind to vote against Kavanaugh- if for no other reason than to stick a knife in Trump, yet again.

So, it will come down to whether Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) are real Republicans, or merely Democrats in drag. The charges made against Kavanaugh have essentially become a mere sidecar to the main issue of whether or not President Trump will get a second pick to the Supreme Court, for so long as he remains President.

With roughly half of the American voters voting for Hillary Clinton and roughly half of the American voters voting for President Trump in the 2016 election, few minds remain to be made up as to Kavanaugh’s supposed guilt or innocence.

For that matter, half of the American voters are in complete denial about the many real crimes that Hillary has committed over the years, and this same half of the electorate also believe that Donald Trump is a sexual predator who has incestuous feelings towards his daughter, Ivanka. Sane Americans know very well that these voters are completely wrong on both counts, and it doesn’t take an FBI investigation to prove them wrong, either.

Dr. Ford’s allegations are so full of holes that they should never have been presented to the Senate Judiciary Committee in the first place. Without a certain date, time, location or corroborative witnesses attesting to her claim- a claim about something which supposedly took place three dozen years ago, what can the FBI investigate after all?

Any reasonable observer can say with absolute certainty that Dr. Ford is lying through her teeth (just as she lied about a “fear of flying”, and using a cell phone following the 1982 supposed assault) and that these allegations are completely without merit. That said, half of the people out there will believe her, regardless, just as they believe what they believe about Hillary and Trump.

The fact that Trump made this nomination is REALLY what this whole mess is all about, and Judge Kavanaugh is having to pay the price in a way he never should have had to do, in any society that prides itself on due process.

Assuming that the news cycle for new and baseless allegations against Kavanaugh last about four to seven days, we can roughly estimate that true-to-form Democrats already have approximately seven or eight women waiting in the wings with their own fanciful allegations- just long enough to tie up the nominating process through the mid-term elections.

So, it really comes down as to whether or not Republicans can “grow a set” and proceed with a vote, before they cede the rest of their tenuous power to their opponents across the aisle, doesn’t it?

In the Autumn of the year (and in the Autumn of our years), October beckons with salacious surprises and scandalous sorties in a world gone mad with Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Trick or treat? You decide…
