Children of All Faiths- the Real Victims of Radical Islam and Universal Hatred

There are times when certain images of war tear at the heartstrings in ways no words can possibly do so. In black and white, the image of a small Jewish boy liberated from Auschwitz, pulling up his sleeve to reveal on his tiny forearm, a branded serial number of his internment, or decades later, the image of a young girl running in the nude- her clothes burned away in a napalm attack in Viet Nam. In living color, the image of a dazed and confused small boy, pulled from the rubble in Aleppo, Syria, unaware of a bleeding head wound that is his own.

Such are the real victims of Radical Islam and the wars it has perpetrated- the innocent lives of the smallest among us who, regardless of whether they are Christian or Jew or Muslim, pay the full price of the hatred perpetrated by the mothers and fathers who use their twisted doctrine of Islam to justify the slaughter of thousands of innocents. This boy, Omran Daqneesh, all of five years old, miraculously survived the bombing of his home after being rushed to the hospital. Amazingly, all of the members of his family managed to survive the attack as well, blamed on an airstrike courtesy of the Assad regime and aided by Russia. Yet, there are others- countless others- who are not so (forgive the word) fortunate as this little boy. The children who are beheaded because they are Christian, the little Jewish children who die from terrorist attacks in Jerusalem, the many Muslim children who are systematically slaughtered in front of their parents, because their parents refuse to submit to a radical and fundamentalist form of Islam seeking to bring on a caliphate of world domination.

That children are caught in the crossfire of war is certainly nothing new. Recorded history is replete with such tales of carnage, and it is always the most innocent among us who pay the highest costs of man’s inhumanity to his fellow man. Jesus once said, “Suffer the children who come unto me (Luke 18:16),” and it seems that Jesus was referring to the tragic circumstances surrounding the unfortunate death of children who, at the hands of adults, lose their lives to violence throughout the world.

In the example of this photo, it is a little boy in Syria. Yet, it might have been a little black boy on the streets of Chicago, a little Jewish boy in his school in Jerusalem, or a little French girl in Nice, along the French Riviera- all of whom are caught in the crossfire of hatred and callous disregard for human life that is the darkest side of our own human existence.

Golda Meir, the former prime minister of Israel, once said, “We will only have peace with the Arabs when they love their children more than they hate us.” It only stands to reason, some fifty years later, that the scourge of Radical Islam which has set the world in a global war will only come to know its end, when the Radical Islamists who perpetrate this war come to love their children more than they hate the rest of us. Until we as a people, of all faiths and all nationalities, unite in determination to rid the world of this hatred, it is our children- all our children, who will pay the ultimate price of our own undoing.

Election 2016- Should the Hammer Fall…

While we have been predicting that businessman and real estate developer Donald J. Trump would be elected the nation’s forty-fifth president of the United States, since the autumn of last year, we must also consider the ramifications should he lose this election to Hillary Clinton.

Certainly, the mainstream media, the political “experts,” the professional pollsters, and politicos of all stripes have been in lockstep unity on what they perceive as the likelihood, if not certainty, of Hillary Clinton’s victory in November, 2016. Despite the fact that, while Hillary Clinton draws hundreds of supporters to her well-orchestrated events, as compared to the thousands of people routinely showing up at Donald Trump’s events, none of the talking heads on television, nor so-called journalists in the country’s major newspapers and magazines, are even suggesting the possibility of a Trump victory…none.

So, let’s assume for a moment that all of these so-called experts are correct, and let’s consider the ramifications of a Hillary Clinton win. What’s next? Well, based upon what we know of Hillary Clinton’s political history, and the statements that she herself, has made during the course of her campaign, we can easily predict the following:

Taxes- Taxes on businesses and corporations (already the highest in the industrialized world) will go up, urging more large corporations and businesses to leave the United States and move their operations overseas, resulting in more and more job losses to the private sector. The same will hold true for estate taxes, which will continue the trend towards the loss of family farms and other small businesses, due to the punitive taxation assessed by the government on the passing of individuals who have already paid taxes on the money they have earned during the course of their lifetimes.

Public Safety- Hillary’s embrace of the Black Lives Matter movement and her well-documented disdain for law enforcement here in the United States, will bring about more attacks on police officers, which have almost doubled in the past year. Given the fact that there are more than 100,000 fewer police officers today, than there were when Barack Obama took office in 2009, the dwindling numbers of law enforcement officers will continue to make our communities less safe- especially in the poorest sections of our cities, where those of color fall victim to ever-increasing violence at an alarming rate.

Radical Islam- Hillary’s intent to continue the policies of the Obama administration, with regards to Islamic Fundamentalist Terrorism and the administration’s fecklessness in dealing with, and its stubborn refusal to correctly identify Radical Islamism for what it is, will result in ever-more terrorist attacks both here at home, and around the world. Her stated desire to increase refugee resettlement from Syria, by a factor of 550%, without properly vetting these refugees, will import to our country the very same problems that have been witnessed in Belgium, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and all over Europe. With her aide Huma Abedin, expected to replace Valerie Jarrett as Senior Advisor to the President, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood will continue to wield a greater degree of influence in Hillary Clinton’s White House than ever before.

Foreign Policy- The pay-for-play corruption that is the essence of the Clinton Foundation will put the foreign policy of the United States up for sale to a degree not even seen during the Obama administration. Essentially, our foreign policy will be determined strictly by the level of financial support that the Clinton Foundation will enjoy, and the Justice Department will abide in this corruption, leaving our foreign policy the end product of such racketeering. Our allies will continue to feel that they have been betrayed by the United States, and our enemies will be emboldened by the ease with which they can escape consequences for their misdeeds by simply writing a check to the Clinton Global Initiative.

Education- With ever-greater federal oversight of classrooms, from pre-kindergarten through post-graduate education, the standards of excellence in education will continue to decline in order to promote “fairness” and ‘inclusiveness,” and the United States will continue to lose ground with regards to competitiveness with the rest of the industrialized world. Union membership will be nationally mandated for all teachers, as it already is in several states which have no right-to-work laws, and public schools will become the exclusive domain of teachers unions across the land. Private and parochial schools, assuming they continue to exist in the face of creeping regulation and ever-more onerous accreditation requirements, will be the only way students are able to acquire a quality education and, in the absence of charter schools, will only be affordable to the very rich, thus creating an effective caste system in education, itself.

Medical Care- With the already-in-progress deterioration of the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare), as private insurers continue to drop out of the exchanges providing coverage, the intended consequence of this deterioration will result in a single-payer system of national healthcare, where healthcare is rationed by the dictates of the federal government. As private corporations in the medical and pharmaceutical industries face ever-higher taxes and more stringent regulations, the requisite innovation and technology in which the United States has led the world will cease to exist, and the quality of healthcare in this country will take on the trappings of healthcare as that which exists in the Veterans Administration, only worse.

In short, should the hammer of Hillary’s election should fall upon this nation, and the former first lady and Secretary of State be elected president, it will prove to be the final nail in the coffin built by Barack Obama, and it will be the United States of America which will be thus rendered asunder.

But at least, in the end, we won’t have a president who merely says mean things…

Counting Chickens Before They Hatch

The 2016 Election is over, Hillary Clinton has won decisively and there is no “path” for Donald Trump to win the election- this according to pollsters and pundits, alike. Even the vaunted Dr. Larry Sabato, of the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics, has projected a landslide win for the former first lady and Secretary of State, with Donald Trump projected to garner merely 191 electoral votes to Hillary Clinton’s 348- well above the 270 required to gain the U.S. presidency. Even Karl Rove, the former White House Deputy Chief of Staff under President George W. Bush, and the “mastermind” behind Bush’s wins in 2000 and 2004, has jumped on the crowded bandwagon of those who have written off any chance for the Republican nominee to come anywhere close to winning the November election.

Talk about “counting chickens before they hatch”…

One should file such prognostications under the Latin phrase bovis stercore. For those who are unfamiliar with this phrase, consider its English translation to be something shoveled up in a bullfighting arena.

In order for anything close to these predictions to come true, a certain set of assumptions would all have to materialize on Election Day:

First, the bloc of voters identifying themselves as African-American would have to turn out in numbers and vote the way they did for Barack Obama in 2012 and 2008 (dream on, Hillary).

Second, the bloc of voters identifying themselves as “staunchly conservative” and “evangelical” would have to stay home and not vote, the way they did when moderate Mormon Mitt Romney was the Republican  nominee in 2012, the way they did when moderate mainstream John  McCain was the G.O.P. nominee in 2008, and the way they did when other moderate mainstream Republicans, Bob Dole in 1996 and George H.W. Bush in 1992, ran for the presidency (keep dreamin’, Hillary).

Third, the bloc of voters identifying themselves as Democrats would have  to vote with the same level of enthusiasm and support as they did for both Obama and Bill Clinton when each of these candidates won consecutive elections, respectively. Not even the staunchest of Democrats pretend to believe that Hillary Clinton carries the political assets of charisma and likeability in the same vein as did either Obama or Bill Clinton (she doesn’t).

Lastly, the bloc of voters identifying themselves as “independent” would  have to vote the way they did overwhelmingly in 1992, 1996, 2008 and 2012, handing Bill Clinton and Barack Obama the presidency four times (rest assured they won’t).

Essentially, the dire predictions of a Hillary Clinton landslide are based solely upon a house of cards constructed of these four assumptions, over-the-top-to-a- level-not-seen-before biased reporting by the mainstream media, and outcome-based polling, jiggered to exaggerate support for Hillary Clinton- the same Hillary Clinton who is viewed as untrustworthy by two-thirds of the American electorate and half of Democrat voters, most of whom supported Socialist Bernie Sanders, to boot.

So as all of the pundits and pollsters, all of the mainstream media types and “neverTrumpers,” and all of the “Republi-can’ts” are busy “counting their chickens before they hatch,” the American people stand to prove them all wrong, and it is on the faces of the so-called “experts” that the proverbial “eggs” will likely splat.

Slanted Media Coverage of the 2016 Election- Advocacy Journalism at its Worst

When the world was young, and we were working towards attaining a degree in Communications/Journalism at James Madison University, there was much discussion in our news writing classes about “advocacy journalism” and how it should be avoided when reporting on the news. In these classes, we were told in no uncertain terms that our own biases should be set aside, unless we are writing commentary or editorials. While it was understood that, as human beings, it is not possible to be completely objective in our writing, it should nevertheless be the ideal towards which we should all strive when reporting on the news.

So much for the teachings of those halcyon days of college life, back when ideas and ideals, striving towards the making of a better world through honest discussion, expanded our horizons and broadened our world view. Who would have thought then, when the 1970s were turning into the 1980s, that both the ideals of unbiased reporting and honest discussions on university campuses would go the way of the dinosaur? Yet, who today can honestly admit that there is such a thing as objective journalism within the mainstream media, or that a free exchange of ideas on our university campuses is possible in this era of indoctrinated political correctness?

On September 22, 2015, we posted an essay called The Gotcha Game- How the Media Controls Elections ( http://www.drewnickell.com/?p=312 ), where we elaborated how the media plays an active role in determining the actual results of elections across the country in its practice of excessively-biased reporting. Label this effort to bring down Trump, from the major media, “Exhibit A” as proof of this reality.

Back in early June of this year, we posted an essay entitled Selective Scrutiny-the Death of the Fourth Estate ( http://www.drewnickell.com/?p=767 ). In this essay, we discussed how the mainstream media will rake a Republican nominee- any Republican nominee- over the coals in attempt to de-legitimize his candidacy, regardless of who he happened to be, while a Democrat nominee can violate the law, peddle influence on a massive and felonious scale, all without a peep from the major media. Label this effort to bring down Trump, from all supposed sides of the major media, “Exhibit B” as further proof of this reality.

Today we find that this bias emanating from all mainstream media outlets, both in print and on television, is as rampant as was once the bubonic plague in Europe, centuries ago. Cases in point…

Last Sunday, on Chris Wallace’s morning talk show, Hillary Clinton unashamedly and unquestionably lied, by indicating that FBI Director James Comey had stated in congressional testimony that she had been completely honest with the American public concerning her use of a private e-mails server and the number of devices she used while Secretary of State, as well as her own testimony before a congressional committee investigating Benghazi, last fall. Nothing could be further from the truth, and Mrs. Clinton knew damned well that in her interview with Chris Wallace, she was lying through her teeth. If one hasn’t been listening to Fox News, one wouldn’t even know about her persistent prevarications regarding all of these issues, because the remaining venues of news reporting suggest that this habitual lying on the part of Hillary Clinton is merely a figment of Fox News fantasy, and a vast right wing conspiracy who is unfairly assailing the former first lady.

It’s not unlike a bank being blamed for armed robbery, isn’t it?

Compare that coverage, or lack thereof, with the incredibly-negative and aggressively-intoned coverage of each and every word emanating from Donald Trump’s campaign, and what stands clear is that the mainstream media- all of the mainstream media– is seizing upon each and every opportunity to twist, spin and utterly slander anything and everything that Donald Trump says, just to cast aspersions on his own candidacy to a degree not seen in this writer’s lifetime. Granted, there are occasions when Donald Trump deserves such scrutiny, but why the obviously odious double standard?

This same mainstream media, so in bed and under covers with the Democrat Party’s nominee, has already come to a place where they are prepared to say ninety days in advance, that Hillary Clinton has already won the election hands down, based upon poll after poll after poll and a growing list of former Bush operatives and other Republi-can’ts who have condemned Donald Trump for- now get this- his style ! In other words, since Jeb Bush lost “big” to Donald Trump, these insiders are going over to the other side, to teach voters a lesson about who is and who isn’t a worthy candidate.

Any objective delve into the various polls’ samplings and methodologies reveals that twice as many Democrats are routinely polled as are Republicans, and the comparatively larger polling spreads between the two candidates are directly correlated to comparatively smaller numbers of people being asked. In other words, even the polls are skewed to a pre-determined result that there is no way Hillary can lose- no way, whatsoever.

What can’t be squared, given the overly-biased reporting and collusion that exists with the mainstream media, the polls that indicate the impossibility of a Trump win, and the treachery of Republi-can’ts conspiring to sink Trump’s campaign, is the fact that while Hillary Clinton typically draws in the hundreds to her own events, Donald Trump routinely draws in the thousands.

So, is this election truly already in the bag for Hillary? Well, the news is that…

…nothing, nothing, is a lock, despite what expert observers would have us believe.

℞ for an Ailing Republican Party

There are times when we write something, or say something, when what we write or say comes back to bite us in our infernal regions…and this may well be one of those times.

Back in the third week of July, 2015, we posted an essay entitled the “Cancer of Division,” ( http://www.drewnickell.com/?p=9 ), where we discussed the peril posed by division within our country, and how this threat can lead us to our destruction as a nation. In it we also wrote:

“…a divided Republican Party, not to mention a third party run by ANY of them, will ensure that the next president will have a “D” after their name and, as things stand now, that president will be a former first lady and Secretary of State. Worse, these intra-party spats are pitting Republican voters against one another- a trend that is virtually orgasmic to Democrats who will unite behind their nominee, regardless…

…Since Republicans cannot do anything to heal the divisions that are the perverse progeny of Barack Obama, for so long as he remains president, they would be wise, instead, to resolve to unite as a Republican Party. They should call on ALL of their candidates to stop trashing one another (including Donald Trump, along with his own trashing of the others), and remember “the Gipper’s” eleventh commandment: “Thou shalt not insult another Republican”. Each of the candidates must resolve to support whoever the nominee is, regardless, because ANY one of them would be a far better president than ANY of the Democrats running today. Instead, they need heap their vitreous on Obama and Hillary and keep pounding away, day after day…”

Well, given the week that has just passed, we are feeling the bite from that which we wrote fifty-four weeks ago.

The not-quite-yet-to-be-reconciled-to-the-nomination-of -Donald-Trump Republican Party, is showing itself to be suffering from the detritus of its own division, especially when the “Republi-can’t” sector of the G.O.P. (namely, the Republican rattlesnakes who can’t rally ‘round the party’s nominee and have announced their support for Hillary Clinton, instead) is showing its infernal regions for all the world to see, and laugh at. Aided by a starving mainstream media, who is ready to seize upon anything that calls Trump’s candidacy into question, and thereby help to elect their queen to the presidency, there is a disease within the G.O.P. which, left unchecked, will ensure that Hillary Clinton is elected president.

It has been said of religion in general, and Christianity, specifically, that “the devil dances when division drives us to hate one another.”

Well, in the same manner, Hillary Clinton is dancing a happy jig, and will continue to do so each and every time a so-called Republican genuflects to her by their endorsement, while condemning their party’s nominee in the process. These turncoats include Meg Whitman, the former failed Republican candidate for California’s governorship, Rep. Richard Hanna (R-NY), former Rep. Larry Pressler, (R-SD) and former George W. Bush administration apparatchiks Richard Armitage, Henry Paulson, and Brent Scowcroft. No doubt there will be others, including Bush’s first Secretary of State and former General Colin Powell. Couple in that same group, “Republi-can’ts” such as former candidates Lindsey Graham, John Kasich, Mitt Romney and the Bush family who refuse to lift a finger to ensure Hillary’s defeat, and therein lies the seeds of their own party’s demise.

Never mind the fact that any effort to assist Hillary Clinton in such a manner is nothing less than an absolute acceptance of continuing Barack Obama’s disastrous foreign policy, an embrace of all of the corruption that is the substance of Hillary Clinton’s criminal history, and an outright endorsement of activist liberal and legislating-from-the-bench justices that a President Hillary Clinton would nominate, who are bound and determined to undermine the United States Constitution at any and every opportunity to do so.

Such is the disease that ails the Republican Party, and there is only one prescription that can ward off the undesirable and, yes, life-threatening effects of this disease…and that prescription is UNITY.

Quite simply, Republicans must unite behind the candidacy of Donald Trump or the failure to do so will push our country into disaster, and will effectively destroy representative democracy and the Grand Old Party, forever.

Election 2016 – The Roads Ahead and Beyond

Now that the gavels are silent and the conventions have ended, we enter into the real election- an election that will say as much about who we are as a nation, as it will say about what type of country we are to become- and the roads ahead, and those beyond, take very divergent paths from each other.

The one road- known, familiar and totally ineffective, promises to continue a path towards a national transformation that then President-elect Barack Obama laid out on election night, 2008… a transformation from world leader, to “leading from behind”…a transformation from winning the global war against radical Islam, to denying that it even exists… a transformation from equal justice under law, to the double standards of a “Clinton-ocracy,” where some can flaunt the law and enrich themselves, unfettered from a Justice Department that will not indict…a transformation from color blind to black lives matter…a transformation from law and order towards mob rule anarchy…a transformation away from independence and towards a globalist super-state.

Such is the road ahead, should Hillary Clinton win the election.

The other road- unknown, uncertain and yet totally enticing, promises to break up a broken system…a broken system built on patronage, pay-for-play, and winking insiders with knowing nods, who play their games irrespective of the voters who put them in office…a road offered by a candidate who defies the political insiders of both parties with a politically-incorrect campaign style and an uncanny way of speaking to the forgotten people who have seen their paychecks drop or disappear, altogether… a forgotten people who have seen their hopes and dreams evaporate before their very eyes under the weight of oppressive regulations, globalist free-trade policies, excessive wealth re-distribution vis-a-vis confiscatory taxes…and all this from a showy candidate who offers reassurance to a forgotten people who fear for their own safety, in a nation that would otherwise incur and expand illegal immigration, drastically increase refugee resettlement into the U.S. from countries where radical Islamist ideology is rampant and widely practiced, and who would otherwise witness a continued and deadly war on law enforcement, ushering in an era of anarchy and violence as a result of the direction his opponent would take us…

Such is the road ahead, should Donald Trump win the election.

Beyond a Hillary Clinton presidency, the ensuing road would be devoid of many of the freedoms we, up until recently, have taken for granted, today…the right to own firearms, the right to express ourselves without harassment or censure from a ruling government class…the right to worship as we please…the right to lawfully petition for our grievances…all coordinated with, and under approval from, those who she would appoint to the United States Supreme Court. On such a road, whatever foreign policy we might otherwise have left, would have been sold for donations to the Clinton Foundation, to a degree not seen previously. The country that Hillary Clinton would leave behind is a country where races are pitted, one against the other, where the forces of speech codes on college campuses extend to the very places in which we live, and where we are told what to think, without question or scrutiny, and the voices to any dissent are silenced.

Such is the road beyond, should Hillary Clinton win the election.

Beyond a Donald Trump presidency, the ensuing road offers the chance to return us to the days where American pre-eminence is unquestioned, where we once again reclaim the industrial might that once led the world in innovation and scope, where our own American interests are secured and not subject to negotiation, before the interests of other nations are addressed. The country that Donald Trump would leave behind would be stronger, freer and more secure from the threats that face us from within and without. The re-emerging middle class would be upwardly mobile and expanding, and everyone would, at long last, be treated the same, without regard to the divisive criteria of race, sex, gender, religion or party affiliation. The country Donald Trump would leave behind would well be on the road towards, if not witnessing, the final defeat of radical Islamic totalitarianism.

Such is the road beyond, should Donald Trump win the election.

In the next fourteen weeks until election day, Americans will be bombarded with pollsters trying to prove that Donald Trump doesn’t stand a chance of winning, with “experts” from every field of study that say Trump’s policies can’t be implemented or will not work, and with well-funded and constant messages from the Clinton campaign saying that Donald Trump is psychologically unfit for office. We will be told who wins each of the debates, regardless of our own analysis to the contrary, and we will be told that the moderators are impartial when we know otherwise. All of this- every bit of it- will be done, and co-messaged by, a mainstream media fully in the tank for, and in collusion with, the Hillary 2016 campaign….and yet…and yet…

The roads ahead and the roads beyond remain vastly divergent from one another, and the real question and the one question before the people (who will ultimately decide which road will be taken), is whether or not the road we have been on is, indeed, the one on which we would seek to continue…

Buckle up.
